For the past few days I’ve been thinking about how shooting street photography is the opposite of consuming social media. Instead of clicking on what an algorithm feeds you, it forces you to go out and look for what interests you.
The advantage to this is that you may come across something that no formula could possibly predict.
There is no digital equivalent to exploring the real world. I have no idea what I’ll come across when I step out to take pictures. Every frame is a mix of timing, chance, and a million other random factors. To capture moments as they happen is a demonstration of your own agency, a result of the human algorithm as old as creativity itself.
