The first two volumes in my new series titled, “Los Angeles Street” are now online. This project was inspired by a question I often wrestle with, “What should Street Photography in Los Angeles look like?” I have been working very hard to answer that question for myself, trying different approaches to depicting the beauty of daily life in L.A. The answer that works best for me, like most of my photography, is based on my relationship to the city.
Rather than emphasizing the mythical glamour of the city (which often has more to do with what people expect LA to be rather than the reality on the ground), my eye is drawn to the working class population that makes the city go. For those of us that call the city home, this is by far the most interesting subject matter anyway. This series is ongoing, volumes 3 and 4 will be added this summer.
